The Taj Mahal is a grouping of buildings built between 1631 and 1654 in the city of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India, banks of the Yamuna, by the Muslim emperor Shah Jahan of the Mughal dynasty. The stunning set was erected in honor of his favorite wife, Arjumand Bano Begum – better known as Mumtaz Mahal – who died giving birth to her 14th child, and it is estimated that about 20,000 workers were needed to build it.
